Balance in All Things

In your body balance is key. Your daily life shows you how important balance can be. Balancing work and social life. Balancing stress and relaxation. Balancing sleep and being awake. Balancing exercise and rest, healthy eating and cheat days, water and coffee, and many more. All of these things require a great deal of intelligence in your body and in your life.

Your body comes equipped with an inborn intelligence that balances itself all the time. Your brain controls this balancing mechanism and allows you to go about your daily life without having to think consciously about many important functions.

The brain is the control center of the body. Off of the brain runs the spinal cord which sends signals to every other area of the body. From here there are two important parts of the nervous system that we discuss in every Drs. Report, your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

Balance is an important part in keeping ourselves healthy. Balance in the body can be regulated by the nervous system and it is easily shown between the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system functions. The balance between the two is key to maintaining a healthy life and many important lifestyle choices are based upon this fact. Here are a few of our favorites listed below:

1. Exercise: Many people choose to exercise because of the benefits it has for both our internal and external health. Staying in shape not only creates a more toned body, helps to lose fat and maintains weight, it also boosts heart health, increases immune system function, and stimulates feel good endorphins that are good for mental health! Decreasing heart rate, lower blood pressure and boosting the immune system are all benefits of a properly functioning parasympathetic nervous system. They are directly controlled and coordinated by the brain and chiropractic care boosts this system.

2. Eating Healthy: Healthy eating habits are beneficial in many different ways. They keep toxins and chemicals out of our bodies and allow us to heal and grow with better nutrients. The digestive system is primarily controlled by your Vagus nerve which is parasympathetic in nature. It allows proper digestion which helps break foods down into nutrients the body can use to repair itself. Chiropractic can restore proper function of the vagal responses and raise parasympathetic function which allows the body to digest and utilize food in a more efficient manner.

3. Sleep: Sleep is a very important aspect of health that often goes overlooked. Many adults are sleep deprived and most feel tired throughout the week. Children need even more sleep than adults so they can use their energy to grow and develop properly. Chiropractic care helps to regulate the sleep cycle by promoting the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic system allows the body to relax and gives us a more restful and relaxing sleep. This restorative factor is very important in maintaining our health.

4. Chiropractic Care: Needless to say, we were going to recommend regular adjustments as part of a healthy lifestyle. Chiropractic care helps to boost parasympathetic function while decreasing sympathetic function of the nervous system. This means it lowers the stressful response in the body and raises the relaxing healing response. This can boost digestion, improve immune system function, increase the ability to sleep, lower blood pressure, improve healing time and many other beneficial things. Chiropractic is a fundamental property to a healthy lifestyle.

Many people try to live healthy active lifestyles in our society. Our goal in our office is to help maximize the things you are already doing in your daily routine. Chiropractic cannot make up for a lack of exercise, lack of sleep or poor eating habits, however, it will improve the body's ability to use what you give it and function at its optimal level.

Your choice to be under regular chiropractic care could be the best health decision you make in your life. We recognize that your body is more powerful than anyone has led you to believe. There is an inevitable end to life that happens even to the healthiest of us but every day is a day to live. Maximize your potential and keep yourself and your children healthy. Every day is a gift.
